Each new day — and each new breath — is a new beginning. I notice that as I grow, I deepen through cycles of both sobriety and lightheartedness, and the wonder of existence keeps doing its glorious striptease for my open heart.
We’re alive at a time of great hope and great peril, a moment in our history when the forces of both wholeness and fragmentation are at work. It’s tempting to look away, or retreat into denial and self-soothing behaviors and activities (even “spiritual” ones). But our active participation and our unique form of heroism are what’s needed to transform ourselves, our societies, and the planet.
I’d like to share an audio clip of a meditation that I led during last year’s “One World Bearing Witness” global ritual. It is an expression of a new kind of change-making, a “subtle activism” that works with the deeper truth of Oneness and wholeness as the foundation of reality. This is one of the kinds of experiments we need, as I have written about in my soon-to-be released book, A New Republic of the Heart: An Ethos for Revolutionaries, to be released by North Atlantic Books on March 6.
I invite you to engage this meditation as a sacred enactment of higher shared consciousness held by the humble mutuality out of which cultural evolution can actually proceed.
Access the meditation below. It’s about twenty minutes.
To our evolution,
PS: A New Republic of the Heart: An Ethos for Revolutionaries will be released March 6th, but it’s available now for preorder from Barnes and Noble, Amazon, or your local independent bookseller.
